This Institute currently has asset and cash totaling NT$ 100 million; in which, the Greater Taipei Gas Co., Ltd., Shin Kong Life Insurance Co., and Taiwan Shin Kong Security & Insurance Company, each donated NT$ 30 million, and the Chairman of Shin Kong Financial Holding, Mr. Eugene Wu, personally donated NT$ 10 million. The Institute was registered under such funding.

Taiwan Institute of Sustainable Energy was initiated and funded by the advocates of sustainable energy in 2007, aiming to facilitate research and development of sustainable energy and promote sustainable energy infrastructure. The Institute was officially approved for founding on October 31st 2007. Under the leadership of Chairman Eugene Chien Y. H., the Institute currently has organized the Office of Administrative Secretaries and five committees, including Academic Review, Education & Promotion, Industrial Service, International Exchange, and Cross-Strait Exchange. Each committee is delegated with a specialist mission in the Institute.

Organize sustainable energy technology development related forums and conferences.

Publish sustainable energy technologies development related journals and books and set up a website.
III.
Collect and analyze information regarding energy technologies, policies, industries, and business intelligence and establish an information platform.

Award and sponsor energy technology and environmental protection related research.

Promote exchanges with international energy institutions and establish an international cooperative mechanism.

Conduct Sustainable Energy Education and Promotion.

Conduct other works related to researches and applications of energy technologies and environmental protection.
In the future, the Institute will continue to work to raise the awareness of sustainable energy and related issues, establish an exchange platform for academic and technological groups relating to sustainable energy, facilitate publishing of sustainable energy related journals and specialist books, and raise the concern of the domestic industries for sustainable energy related issues. We wish that through exchanges of academic knowledge and engineering technologies, the intelligence of all who care about the development of sustainable energy will converge to take on the mission of manifesting the spirit of sustainable energy.
