The 3rd Guard the Earth Competition begins [2010/03/19]

Organized by Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TISE), instructed by Environmental Protection Administration, and sponsored by Chungwha Telecom,Taipower Company as well as TÜV Rheinland Taiwan Ltd, Guard the Earth Competition invites senior high and vocational high school students in Taiwan and its offshore islands to compete on the Internet. This competition has swept the island among high school students over the past two years for its concerns including climate change, energy saving and carbon reduction, environmental protection, and ecology conservation. The theme for this year is “biological diversity and the low-carbon lifestyle.” High school students are cordially invited to sign up for this competition NOW.

     With TISE’s dedication to promoting environmental education, Guard the Earth Competition in 2009 was attended by more than 20,000 students and teachers from 2,500 teams across the country, while attracting 1.3 million clicks on its official website. This year, the lively Lion King and vigorous Greenie will guide the participants through all the checkpoints on the new official website. Participants should equip themselves with knowledge and move into actions to guard the Earth. TISE invites 700,000 students to fight for our green Earth by attending 2010 Guard the Earth Competition. Those who register for the competition can could win a big prize, including the flight ticket to Tokyo, an iPod Touch, a Sony digital camera, USB flash drive, while Instructors can also win an Apple iPhone 3G. After your registration, you have to pass a test in the first round before you can team up with 2 schoolmates and an instructor to join the second round. Important dates are as follows:

1.      The 1st round: from now on to May 28, 2010

2.      The 2nd round: Saturday, May 29 (a 30-minute online contest)

3.      The final round: Sunday, June 13 (it will be hosted in the northern, central and southern parts of Taiwan around the same time)
