The 6th Cross-Strait Sustainable Energy and Environmental Development Seminar took place at the Dong-Ming International Hotel in Chang Chi City, Xiansi Province from August 2nd through August 4th. The theme was Green, Low Carbon, and Sustainability. Scholars of Taiwan and China shared research results and arrived at mutual understanding on climate change and sustainability, and learned about the efforts devoted to planning the strategy of sustainability of power supply in adaptation to climate change by Taiwan and China. Over 60% of the papers indicate that energy-saving technologies and carbon reduction are currently the most important topics.
Taiwan was represented at the seminar by Chien You-Hsin, Chairman of Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TISE) and 45 scholars, including: Chen Hsi-Shun, President of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology; Lee Tsu-Tian, President of National Taipei University of Technology President; Chiang Shih-Yi, President of CHC Resources Corporation; Liu Kuo-Chung, Director of environmental Protection of China Steel; Chiang Hui-Ying, North Asia Manager of HP Environmental Protection Office. China was represented by Li Wu-Wei, Vice Chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee; Hsueh Yen-Chung, Chairman of Shansi Provincial Committee of CPPCC; Hsieh Ko-Chang, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering; Chang Wen-Tung, President Taiyuan University of Technology, among others.
At the end of the seminar, Chien, You-Hsin, TISE Chairman and Chen, Hsi-Shun, President of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, which will host the 2011 seminar, invite all scholars to attend the next seminar in Taiwan.
